Review (in 1996):
This site aims to provide information about Hiroshima. "A city that sings the praises of humanity and serves as an inspiration to the world". Let's hope so. The site covers not merely its obvious tragic history, but also city minutia from the amount of raw sewage collected (212,431 kiloliters) to the number of fishery establishments (485, for the record). Naturally, plenty of space is devoted here to anti-nuclear activism and the history of Hiroshima's devastation (186,940 were killed). As reviewed in the 1996 "World Wide Web Top 1000" - a review of the Top 5% of all Web Sites in 1996.
Stunning color and black-and-white photographs share Web space with two Hiroshima 6th graders' statements that "compassion and kindness toward our friends is of the utmost importance in achieving peace".
A "New Century City Vision for Hiroshima" outlines this gallant effort at rebuilding a vital city.
